Allianz Global Investors, one of the world’s leading active asset managers, announced today the appointment of Matt Christensen as Global Head of Sustainable and Impact Investing. In this role, he will accelerate the growth of Impact Investing as part of the company’s growing private markets platform; lead the continued integration of ESG factors across AllianzGI’s existing range of public markets products, including stewardship activities; and support the development of new SRI products.
Martin Ewald is a Managing Director in the London office of Allianz Global Investors and leads the Impact Investment team of AllianzGI as Lead Portfolio Manager.
Martin joined the Infrastructure Equity team of AllianzGI in 2012 and co-headed the portfolio management business for renewable energies in Munich. Since 2013, he has been responsible for the overall investment strategy of the team. Before, he worked for Allianz SE as Co-Head of the Investment team of Allianz Climate Solutions since 2007 where he led transactions in the fields of renewable energies and carbon investments worldwide.
He is a member of the advisory board of both the Allianz Renewable Energy and the Renewable portfolios. Furthermore, he is the co-lead of the infrastructure advisory council of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and an advisor of the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, an initiative which aims at developing the next generation of climate finance instruments.
Martin holds a Master’s degree with merit in International Management from the University of Exeter and a Master’s degree with merit in Business Administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) from the University of Mannheim. He is an external Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Management and Accounting at the Technical University of Dresden.
