Staying the course: 100 blog posts on sustainable investing

Sustainable investing has not stood still – and neither has the debate around it. As narratives have shifted from momentum to scrutiny and, increasingly, to outcomes, our sustainability blog has followed that evolution closely.

Our blog has reached a milestone. With 100 posts now published, this reflects a consistent commitment to engaging with the issues that matter – even as sentiment and scrutiny have intensified.

As markets fluctuate, regulation evolves, and investors seek more tangible outcomes, a look back at what we have published since March 2023 maps out how this shift has taken shape.

Early posts explored themes such as energy, biodiversity and the rise of impact investing – often framed against a rapidly changing macro landscape, including the energy shock following the war in Ukraine and resurgent inflation.

Expanding beyond the industry-wide focus on climate-related investing, we also addressed questions on emerging issues affecting both society and the environment, for example, could a greener approach to fashion lie in circularity, and is global demand for chocolate exacerbating challenges within the cocoa industry?

As the focus turned to evidence and implementation, our content reflected this focus. We discussed the critical role of data, and the milestone launch of our proprietary Sustainability Insights Engine (SusIE).

Regulation accelerated, from the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation refinements to the emergence of global reporting standards, moving sustainability from a voluntary overlay towards a more rigorous, data-driven discipline.

In parallel, we aimed to deliver clarity and pragmatism covering topics such as the relevance of ESG ratings, stewardship – a driver of corporate best practice and long-term value – and how investors can separate signal from noise in corporate disclosures.

Commitments to outcomes

Today, the conversation has evolved again. Sustainable investing is less about labels and more about real-world impact and how countries and companies can build resilience. We are also talking to clients about how portfolios can navigate physical climate risks, support the transition and deliver measurable outcomes.

If there is one thread across these 100 blog posts, it is change. Sustainable investing has moved from promise, to scrutiny, to delivery. And as markets, policy and expectations continue to evolve, we will continue to engage with the questions that matter.

And finally… in case you missed our summer round-up from last year, why not dive into our pick of travel-related topics?

Investing involves risk. The value of an investment and the income from it may fall as well as rise and investors might not get back the full amount invested. Past performance does not predict future returns. If the currency in which the past performance is displayed differs from the currency of the country in which the investor resides, then the investor should be aware that due to the exchange rate fluctuations the performance shown may be higher or lower if converted into the investor’s local currency.
