Our conviction
We believe impact-focused investing has reached an inflection point, offering substantial growth potential. Our approach to sustainability and impact is built upon three core themes that represent the greatest challenges of our time: climate change, planetary boundaries and social inclusion. Across these areas, our impact-focused investments span diverse solutions – from technology-enhanced education and energy efficiency innovations to sustainable food production.
Leveraging our expertise in private markets, we are committed to formalising the assessment and measurement of impact – an essential step towards advancing impact-focused investing across public asset classes as well.
Our expertise
With dedicated impact resources we are further broadening our investment horizons, spanning private markets impact-focused offerings including private credit, as well as blended finance which combines development funding with private capital and often in emerging markets. At the same time, we are actively exploring opportunities in public markets.
Our approach: Four pillars of our proprietary impact framework
Assessing and measuring the delivery of impact in a robust and credible way is essential. For our blended finance strategies we align with the impact methodologies of our development finance partners, while for our impact-focused strategies in developed markets, we apply a proprietary impact framework which covers four broad pillars. This approach guides our investments and contributes to wider industry thinking on impact investing.
Establish impact objectives which target key societal challenges in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Assess the significance and contribution of potential investments by applying our own impact scoring system.
Identify core impact key performance indicators to measure and report against with the aim of demonstrating impact delivery.
Test and learn continuously to inform future impact investments in both private and public markets.

AllianzGI Annual Impact Research Award
Independent academic studies are integral to our impact investment process – that’s why we established an annual Impact Research Award.
